Our story: The Heart of Wild Side Walkies

Wild Side Walkies began with my dog, Penny.

Like many first time dog owners, I wanted to give her the very best start in life. Soon after bringing her home from the rescue centre, I worked with a highly regarded local trainer and was introduced to structured pack walks and group adventures.

Watching dogs build confidence, form friendships, and genuinely thrive in small, consistent groups completely changed the way I saw dog walking.

By profession, I worked most of my career with children with autism, where much of my work focuses on positive reinforcement, routine, trust, patience, and helping individuals feel safe and confident. Over time, I realised many of those same principles help dogs thrive too.

That experience inspired me to create Wild Side Walkies.

Today, I focus on small, carefully matched packs, familiar routines, and calm, enriching adventures where dogs can feel safe, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a pack.

Wild Side Walkies exists because of Penny, and a genuine belief that dogs deserve more than just exercise.

They deserve connection, consistency, adventure, and a place where they can truly belong.

Recommended Dog Trainer

Rob, Eastern Suburbs Dog Trainer

Finding the right trainer matters. Someone calm, consistent, and deeply experienced can change not just a dog’s behaviour, but their quality of life.

Rob is a highly experienced, hands on dog trainer who works with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. His approach is logical, fair, and straightforward, always grounded in consistency and repetition. He trains from a place of genuine passion and respect for dogs, not ego.

Rob has worked closely with my own dog Penny, and the progress she has made with him has been life changing. He often jokes that he is “just her Uber driver” and that she doesn’t love him, but the truth is she absolutely adores him. The trust, calmness, and confidence she has gained under his guidance speaks for itself.

What truly sets Rob apart is his follow through. He stays in touch, checks in, and genuinely cares about the dogs and owners he works with. His communication is clear, his expectations are fair, and his results are real.

Without hesitation, Rob is one of the best dog handlers and trainers I have ever worked alongside. I recommend him highly.
